so, ive been wanting to write down for a while but idk nothing much has been happening really, after all school's over, im not on vacation yet, i quit my job, what is there really to happen?

but no point in just skipping writing till something happens so here goes,

ive started building a small product, really small tbh, but im kinda proud that i finally got myself to get an idea, and get it close to the finish line :) coming soon™️ btw friend circle has been kinda dead lol many are changing school's many have been separated so nothings gonna happen until next year starts ig and am really looking forward to it lol have a bunch of things i wanna do(soul dont overthink it pls)

im also working on rift with soul and milind and thats kinda fun, but i kinda finished all the ui parts early, so am kinda idle right now :( perhaps ill start work on the backend with milind

ive started reading physical books again too, and even completed 1! both are murder mysteries atm, christie never disappoints lol... ive been reading more online too, articles and essays, etc.

on the writing part tho, not much has happened, im yet to figure out what to write about, aaaah why is it so hard to write...

also, my messy internet life and bookmarks have been somewhat organized thanks to rauno's launch bmrks.com - its really beautiful and well thought out bookmark manager... i love the simplicity

ok so ive been very busy.... icse started 🥲 and ive like very limited time... but hopefully after exams are over, ill travel somewhere and write & read more!

will be prolly very inactive till then sadly...

i think i forgot to mention, that i got access to arc for windows. its been an amazing few weeks using it(with the few bugs) but its pretty stable. my only concern is the resources, kinda too resource heavy lol... altho the ui, and functionality are v nice, esspecially the tab mgmt and they keep shipping updates every week or so, which is really great!

also the past week have been working with soul on something and its fun to build something without restrictions and freely tbh... building is v underrated... altho i should prolly study instead 💀

about to go off, but had certain insights

was overall a good year, hopefully the next will be even better

last week was rather unique, worked on myself and my own projects after a long time, hung out with friends, etc...

also happy new year! 2023 is over, and it was fun! read a bunch, and also wrote a blog post writing makes me very happy idk why

didnt make any new years resolutions yet, maybe ill make today? ill post my 2023 reflections later maybe

btw did a lot of fun stuff this week

• broke open 1 flow plugin and 1 obsidian plugin - blog post incoming
• also read a bunch of cool stuff(i just cant get over how beautiful reading is)
• setup obsidian properly
  • synced obsidian to mobile using some weird old app(but it works)

the plugin breaking was the most fun though lol

bought getmatter.com, let's hope it goes well

kinda bored of fixing bugs at endeva though

as for life im in a v weird state, my parents keep saying exam, exam, exam and i keep saying code, code, and code but i'm also a studying a tad bit more (so weird ikr)

im trying to code more in less time and and study less in more time so kinda balancing ok-ish

the other side is kinda meh

also feeling a bit sad that ill be losing many of my friends this year, in few months rather...

also weekly reviews died, this periodic stuff doesnt work for me... so gonna be writing randomly from time to time now similar to here yeah, but a bit different too

life's been fun, i started focusing more on overall life and fun than just code... i've started balancing between studies, social or life in general, and coding/working further in coding, ive found a balance between working(endeva), purp or other clients, and personal projects

its durga puja here, so having a ton of fun these days ps: soul, this is both what u think and also not what u think

have been staying outside most of the day so a little unproductive but idc lol...

the pandals are also so beautiful and the lighting... its just so nice... i just don't like the crowd... but this year its not as crowded so am loving it...

endeva is going good, am working on new features or pages now which is better and more fun than fixing boring bugs purp is kinda paused but its fun fixing the eslint errors lol and building the ui...

altho i kinda wanna get better at design too, might try drawing like sofa suggested...

ok, found a few cool stuff during this time, lemme list

1. neon - generous serverless postgres(10 branches with 3gb free each and ~10k compute hrs/m)
2. keyviz - cool fun tool to visualize keypresses and shortcuts i type. also shows clicks and other mouse actions.
3. ominivore - bookmarking / read later tool thats good and works and also integrates with obsidian... really nice tool

i'm building smth, related to a thing ive been to trying to do. and am using neon.tech for that cuz im broke and need those free benefits. i originally thought of using deta.space but they have very limited resources and are also very slow... i had thought of using this project for their hackathon but cuz i cant use space i cant use it for the hackathon either...

also kinda odd move for them to stop signups at a time like this. but ig it doesnt affect their user base or anything then its fine.

gonna be trying a weekly note system from this month or maybe after exams... made a template with obsidian, templater, and dataview... doesn't seem like a bad idea to track and reflect upon each week...

actually studied a lot of stuff during the study leave and didnt waste it all... maintained a balance b/w work, coding, and studies...

like i mentioned in the earlier drop, built a small web app for myself... where i can give it a json of questions and options with correct option tagged... and an optional config... the site loads the json and displays the questions with absolutely 0 styling... just white text on a black bg... i can go through and answer the questions and finally if i end it or time runs out... gives me the results, that is correct, incorrect, unattempted, time taken, etc. thinking of adding a few more types of questions like single word answers, etc. also wondering if others would benefit from this? maybe there are more students like this who need this? well anyways gonna be making it public lol... and open source(maybe)... lots to consider tho...

had a bigger idea of integrating ai to match and grade long form answers as well... but thats for later... gonna build this basic unstyled mvp first... built the current mvp in 2 hours btw 👍pretty nice progress on idea -> execution

was having a chat with soul the other day about the "ideal" job, and freedom... helped me realize how balance is important with a little bit of uncertainty at times.. i really like the concept of uncertainty... u dont know what coming next... its just so intriguing and interesting... i think i want my own thing but his description of "ideal job"(ss in priv discord) doesnt sound bad either...

also dug a little deeper into designs and inner meanings in texts too.. they are interesting as well

• got an idea and thinking if itll be good or no
• pkm is really interesting and cool, digging deeper
• have a few things i wanna do and add to my site
• wrote a few small essays(mostly personal lol)

kinda messed up at endeva and J got mad 💀... then tried to fix it and made a progress on my tasks... and studied properly and understood the stuff after a long time(physics is fun at times)

today talked to J and am going to change my style of coding to ship quality code fast instead of half broken sht faster as we are moving into a phase which involves users...

endeva has taught me so much... both technically and otherwise v grateful to soul, J, and kumar 🫡

then, i worked on fixing a lot of bugs, and got bored now, so requested kumar not to assign any bugs for the next few days...

completed writing first part of my geo notes

sooo i didn't forget about this, what happened is, my laptop's display broke and soon after i went to delhi for sof prize which was v fun and nice btw anyways then after i came back, i sent laptop for repairing, and i got it back yesterday and was v busy studying and getting back into deva... got the major tasks done today, and got some free time now, so thought would write here... tbh the days without my laptop were a bit boring indeed but atleast i studied and read a lot more i also played games after a vvvv long time but i wont anymore again cuz well got back laptop hehe.. so yea thats abt it

omg i finally have some time off, this week was soooo hectic but well the pressure is less now, cuz all projects and stuff and deva tasks are done...

yeah this def works, got my geo project done in around ~1.5hrs. i need to be in this ideal focus state at all times

what i noticed works for me is:

• subtle music, too loud kinda breaks the flow
• distraction free environment(both irl as well as online) as in no notifs/ no bg apps, etc.. no bg apps help as they reduce pc resource usage thus whatever im focusing on works smoother
• breaks - time and again, they kinda help in refreshing my mind and i can start thinking fresh again... altho long breaks dont work, small-mid sized breaks is what works for me
• ig breaks every 40-50mins worked best for me

yesterday was v hectic and not v important so didn't document

but today was interesting... Lol firstly at school just 10 students were present in sec E oof.. and next, completed a few Deva tasks.. did one case study of geo project as well

well it flipped, weekends are always a W lol.. the issue had a v simple fix, got a ton of stuff done, on my last issue now.. and I'll prolly complete that too by today so yea

not just that, studied somewhat properly asw..

yet another W day, yeah i know the day isn't over yet but well going great so far

• fixed that email thing thanks to kumar
• fixed the endeva-monorepo-submodule rollback
• worked on a lot of non-tiny issues and features
• interacted with the guild a bit more
• studied really less need to change this for tmrw and evening asw
• NO LONGER IN TRIAL... lessgo

can't remember anything else rn, will edit/make another post if i do

also i want to start reading more again

i can work quite well with async teams not sure abt synchronous ones, quite the contrary to what i used to think

p.s. - i used to think i can work well with only my friends and itd be hard for me to work in a team

got my first part time job

you could see this as an internship but whatever, i get to do what i like, and i get paid for it. gonna be doing trial @ endeva, so gonna be busy.
