Made a turkey/lettuce/Dijon mustard sandwich for breakfast, dad arrived with take-out dimsum right as I was frying up my eggs. They stuck to the stainless steel pan. Doy! Delicious shrimp dumplings, though.
Went to Great Mall around 1 or 2pm. Something about the walking really tired me out by 4:30pm so we swung by a Korean street food storefront. Breaded pork cutlet with the sauce was delicious and the portion with rice and salad was great — I had half of it and saved it for tomorrow for breakfast. (Since we ate out and made so much food this Christmas, we're probably not going to Sunday breakfast tomorrow.) Great Mall seems to have better deals than Valley Fair, and more of them as well. I fell in love with a sweater and a knitted jacket on sale, but I have enough outerwear as is. I was looking for pants on sale. Not many that were reasonably thick, unfortunately — critical as the weather in Scotts Valley and Santa Cruz will continue to be cold for the next three to four months. With only so much time left this winter break, I set my studies aside and tried to relax with some Minecraft. I'm getting a little better with the trackball. And the Caves and Cliffs update(s) — I'm last familiar with 1.12.2 and 1.13 — looks and feels like magic.
For dinner Aunt Bella made "caw mum" — a stewed catfish and pork soup made with prahok, a salted/fermented fish paste. By itself, it can be quite strong and salty, so you eat it with veggies. You can scoop up the meat and some broth with veggies, or dunk all your veggies in and eat it together (just be mindful of any fish bones). It was really savory and didn't taste salty at all, even by itself. I added some more veggies once I was done with all the meat.
