Made some steel cut oats in the Instant Pot this morning, but I got sidetracked by the cat sneaking into my room, laundry, a coffee mishap, and figuring out what toppings to actually put on the oats. I eked out (in?) the bowl of oats with frozen berries, a small pat of salted butter, a whole banana, and peanut butter. Spent the afternoon getting ready for Cornucopia today; arrived at school around 3:05pm, and arrived at the booths about 10 minutes later. Spent 2 whole hours walking around and checking out the stands, and I think this time around was a lot more productive and less disorienting — even without a proper map — because of the similar recent experience at SJ's Maker Market. I also got to say hi to Eva face to face properly since my first ever psychedelic trip. She and Peyton helped me get back to Porter from Rachel Carson and Oakes. Funny enough, she recognized me first. Normally people's faces leap out at me, but it took me a few seconds to recognize, and then put the name to her; and even then I wasn't that certain. So it's kind of interesting the trip still has one last incidental effect, half a year later. (My regular facial processing is just fine, about the same, maybe even slightly better.) Drove back home and spent basically the rest of the evening from 6:30 to 9:30 cooking, eating, and cleaning. I fried up the marinated chicken, and used the rendered fat to kick-start a bell pepper and oyster mushroom stir-fry. The chicken fat and the fond from the marinade and the meat was pretty magical, and deeply flavored the mushrooms (I steamed them first to collapse them, and then cooked them in the fond to get the flavor in). And since I didn't cook the bell pepper that much, they remained nice and crisp. Donna came in around 8:45pm, somewhat tuckered out from her classes at Santa Clara University. Spent the rest of the night till now unwinding. My eyelids get heavy before 11:30pm these days. And to think I was downing half-bites of melatonin for nearly two weeks last month? Boy, I must've been stressed (or over-caffeinated).
