Woke up late today, approx. 9:30. Had some leftover pasta for breakfast with a generous bit of parmesean cheese. Mom spent the day cooking and catching up on her K-dramas, and inviting me a few times to try the food (she was fasting for most of the time): testing a Singapore curry kit, and making a cozy jujibee/lotus root chicken soup from scratch (as per normal). Worked on my response to Shruti's sent video about "cognitive hygiene" which is shaping up to be a much longer essay than I thought, but I'd be lying if it didn't get the brain juices flowing. Finished reading Like Water for Chocolate and marveling at the plainly bad decisions and strength of romantic lust between Tita and Pedro, and even of everyone else (Mama Elena, Chencha, Gertrudis, John, etc., etc.). Esquivel clearly intended for Tita to be a good person, but sending John to everything but the cuck chair at the end of the book just feels weird to me. Continued working on the SotC 3.0 plot outline, this time really drilling into the month-by-month bits for Chapter 1 (Saint Luke's initial decline and inaction) and Chapter 2 (consequences of Luke's condition); watching a couple 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid reviews; folded laundry; and went with Seth to Best Buy to get some compressed air. I stopped by the painfully anemic camera aisle and headed out. We talked a little about his upcoming school year at De Anza. I told him he'd be fine, and that the most significant pressures are still long-term. For dinner I couldn't choose between the two dishes so I had both. Spent the rest of the night shopping on Amazon. Praises for Prime! I'll tell you, for all the convenience the brick and mortar stores give you, it also seems kind of overwhelming.
