May 14th 2025 today was a marathon. Woke up early around 7:50 so I would have ample time to get ready for my Tdap vaccine appointment at 9:20. Around this time I also noticed James wasn't in the office again, so CAPS auto-cancelled the appointment. I feel like this is the 2nd time this has happened. But oddly I didn't feel all that torn up about it. Honestly, I've felt more free these past couple weeks when it comes to social stuff and ongoing worries. Anyway, I had plenty of time this morning and arrived around 8:55 at the Cowell Student Health Center. I probably could've saved myself even more time taking the route along Hagar Drive rather than up through the Science and Engineering buildings, but whatever. Checked in at the iPad and then the front desk and had a seat for a couple minutes before being called in. Carrie, the nurse, was very warm and professional. The Tdap shot itself was like any other vaccine. Thanked her and grabbed a granola bar on the way out, and then headed home. I think I had my camera with me, but I didn't get any shots. I honestly feel like I've seen so much of the campus that people are the ones that feel most "exothermic" in terms of subject(s) and visual interest. Of course, my tepid social skills pose a barrier. I digress. No Psyc 123 discussion section to worry about today either because the TAs were grading the midterm, so I headed straight to Porter. Had a couple turkey sausages and eggs and oatmeal with blueberry and mango and the coconut shreds. Took a piece of zucchini bread up to have with my morning coffee, thinking some sweets would soothe the sore throat that had been ongoing this morning. Eh. Fluids and food are what I need anyway. Sasha came in with a sprinkled donut they stashed in the fridge, and I headed down to the Porter quad to grab one for myself (it was a student voting promo — I had already voted a few days ago). Had plenty of tea into the day, did some studying to the best of my ability into the afternoon, and then from 1 to 4:30 I was at the McHenry Library doing some reading for class and personal research in Hemera. I actually got a good bit of reading done, so I'll have to stop by more often. The issue is how heavy my backpack gets with my laptop and external monitor, though. Ay yai yai. Headed back to dorm, did some on and off studying, watched a couple episodes of Neon Genesis Evangelion. I'm not sure I like any of the characters in particular, except maybe Rei (though that's because she's such a mystery at the moment). They're all flawed and a bit archetypal. The genre is also odd — is this an action-adventure or slice-of-life? Maybe I shouldn't complain too much, seeing that my expectation of this was something of a psychedelic experience. (I had a 1g lemon tek on my mind a good chunk of the afternoon, but I decided against it. Maybe Friday.) Well, anyway. Headed down to Porter's pasta night dinner, saw a few members from the Hitchcock Lounge group at a table, noticed Madi (the older one) in front of me in line and said hi, avoided sitting down with them and instead went outside to the patio. Pasta was fine, though the portion was a bit slim; and the mushroom barley soup was sweeter than I had thought but still very good and comforting. Grabbed a cream cheese brownie on the way out, just barely heard Micah at the cashier say hi — seems he was on break when I came in — and I said hi back. (Is there a broader significance to these ever-transient interactions with him, and the Hitchcock Lounge group as a whole? If there is, I will not look into it much. My awareness of them cross my mind like a quiet breeze, so quiet I might not have heard them at all. It is a stark change from my turmoil in Winter quarter.) Headed back up to dorm, unwound some more, had a little more Earl Gray tea. Did some laundry around 8:30, finished around 10:00. The smaller load was easy on the washer and the dryer, so no complaints here. I seem to have eaten many more sweets than I normally would, though: 4 or 5 pieces of crystallized ginger, two dining hall desserts, a bite of
