Tuesday, May 13th 2025 was a slog but not so overbearing. Had poor sleep the prior night — stayed up until 1:30 for god knows what reason — well, alright, it was the thermos of Earl Gray too close to bedtime and my overheating under my blankets — and tried to get some extra sleep in. Ate a bit more than usual for breakfast at Porter and took my chorizo sausage/egg/cheese panini I had made to go back up to dorm. Coffee, tea, the works. Headed up to College 9's Social Sciences 2 building for in-person class, went frigid to my teammates, didn't project or talk much during the presentation because I was so irritated at crunching almost all of the groupwork (again) the prior day and my own tiredness. Class got out early and I headed down to Prof. Manago's Psyc 116. Lecture covered social cognition brain networks and their development in adolescence. I didn't quite resonate with the function of the brain networks, but that wasn't the central takeaway I think. Talked with Niko and Nicolas briefly. Niko reminded me of Madi (the older one) for a split-second — must've been her eyes. Headed back to dorm, did some last-minute studying for my cognitive neuroscience Psyc 123 midterm at 5:20 back at dorm. Headed back down, chatted with Ava in Porter Quad (she had just come back from painting her mural — she's making great work on it), and then walked up through the Redwood Grove apartments. Saw Ezra and chatted with them as well! Ezra's got a lot of homework this time of the quarter, but they seem to be handling it well. Arrived at my cogneuro midterm with a quietness of a mind, didn't bother to do any more last last minute studying, and ... the midterm was stupid. Somehow I had gotten spoiled by Prof. Manago's concept-and-theory midterm, because this 50-question gauntlet was mostly fact-checking and a handful of hard-memorization neuroanatomy questions which would've been a bore if I weren't so frustrated with the gaps in my memory. Luckily even if I bomb this second midterm with an 82%, it'll only drop my 98.8% net grade to a flat 94%, no BS. So I'll still be fine... Stressing about the midterm must've knocked my immune system or something because I noticed a prickling of a sore throat around 2:30 which got a bit worse into the rest of the day. Dinner at Rachel Carson, with a salad. Watched an episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion and Rick and Morty's fortune cookie episode (a rare Rick and Jerry episode — super fun). Can't really remember the rest of the night. I think I got to sleep a little earlier than usual to try and help my immune system, and to make sure I'm not too groggy the following day, because...
