Got some great sleep last night but I lamped in bed for 10 minutes or so. Had a small breakfast at Porter around 9:30, made some iced coffee and snacked on the last of my popcorn after getting back up to dorm. The weather is warm and muggy today, and the heat raises a botanical smell that is adjacent to petrichor. Seems like all the gray days of April and now May tricked me into a "long March". And just the other day, on Tuesday or Wednesday, looking at the sky and feeling the chill at my shoulders, I briefly thought it was November. Suffice to say it kept getting warmer and warmer into the afternoon. I packed up my stuff and headed down, only to realize at Oakes College that I had left my car key back in my dorm. Oy!!! Luckily my car has a remote unlock feature so I could load my stuff, but I still had to walk back up to my dorm and grab it. Seeing the heat and light outside I swapped my regular prescription glasses for my prescription sunglasses, which made for a really trippy experience. Something about the shaded cover and the pupillary distance (narrower on the sunglasses, than on my regular frames) gave the scenery a great 3D pop and detail that honestly reminded me of my 3.5g trip, but clearer. I even had some trouble walking for the first few minutes because I was misjudging how close the ground was (though maybe that was just peripheral vision wonkiness). I got my keys and headed back down to the parking lot, albeit this time taking the pathway through Family Student Housing, a pathway I hadn't taken in a little over a quarter by now. The drive home was a bit slow because of traffic in Santa Cruz and San Jose, and an accident on Highway 17 that was literally in front of me. I think it's on my dashcam, assuming it was actually recording. Got back to Milpitas around 4:30, helped at the shop for an hour, headed back home, got caught up with younger brother and said hi to grandma, dug into a few snacks and did a little bit of studying. Had dinner around 9:00, talked to dad about politics and foreign policy around 10:15, unwound the rest of the night.
