Bit of tiring day today, but good. Woke up a bit late around 9:15 and lamped in bed for 10, 15 minutes. Got ready at the other, bigger bathroom down the hall. They've got better heat consistency there! Had a small-ish breakfast at Porter: A ham steak and egg and cheese panini and mango/blueberry/pineapple (only, like, 3 pieces)/coconut flake oatmeal. Headed back up to dorm and made iced coffee and had some snacks, the works. Futzed on the computer the rest of the morning and afternoon. Shruti was in the room for an hour or so this afternoon — a comforting presence, even while studying.
Went to Science and Engineering Library around 12:50. Got there early, walked around the building since I wasn't quite sure where/what the main entrance was. Turns out my first instincts was right. Alisa arrived around 1:10 and we sat down and we did some last-minute studying for tomorrow's midterm for Psyc 116. Alisa is a gem: sharp as a tack, grounded communication/explaining style, great at spotting connections between topics far apart in the lecture timeline. I felt like I had to keep up since most of my work was in my digital notes and I wasn't quite on top of the jargon, so you have to imagine my surprise when she complimented by vocabulary. Turns out my reading scientific papers in my spare time paid off after all. :-) Around an hour in, Emily came by. Emily was a bit more focused on the procedural class topics rather than playing with the ideas, but she was just what we needed to speed up our review. Altogether got to 6 of the 9 review topics slides in the 2 hours, and then we headed out.
Spent the afternoon and early evening unwinding. Had dinner at Porter, with Sasha. Apparently they had beef tacos, but we came late enough they ran out of the meat. We got some chicken enchiladas instead. Talked extensively about political system (democracy, majority/plurality vote, bipartisan collaboration) going into 2028 and what historical precedent we can look to. Though, knowing Sasha hasn't ever taken a government class since high school makes me cast doubt on their more hardline progressive stances. Crunched my CMPM 80H 1-page reflection and related classwork in an hour around 9 to 10, and continued to unwind the rest of the night. Wish I got to some personal work (other than my re-review of Zettelkasten analyses), but I'm really looking forward to tomorrow and getting good sleep in the interim.
P.S. It was hot today. Perfect excuse to wear my navy and taco-iconed button-down. Shruti complimented the shirt this morning.
