The drive to Milpitas felt shorter than I thought. I drove a bit slower and felt less stressed and braked plenty and often on the downhill, brake pads and engine braking be damned. I swung by my parent's shop to say hi and grab their groceries to take back home, and then headed home. I asked Seth to help me unpack and greeted him warmly, as I had done with the rest of my family earlier. I really really missed them all! It must've been three weeks since I've seen them, with the mushroom trip and finals preparation and all. We unwound in the indoor garage office space and I continued to unpack. I got caught up on his schooling -- didn't make it into the UCs, got into the CSUs, has his eyes set on community college regardless. My mom came home around 7 to prep dinner and my brother pounced on the opportunity to practice his driving, so we headed to Sunright Tea. He knew I was broke (okay not that broke) and paid for me. Very nice. I got a hokkaido milk tea. I think he got a different milk tea but had a double topping of boba and lychee jelly. On the ride back home I told him about my mushroom trip and my social issues and he reiterated his advice I conveniently forgot in the week up to the fungal lesson: that I shouldn't expect to make friends with everyone, and that it's okay to be strangers and acquaintances with people you see everyday. We headed back in home. I had dinner around 8:15 -- baked fish, some fishball veggie soup, a bit of Costco rotisserie chicken. YUM. Got some pics on the GF2, and it turns out the 50mm f/1.4 was the perfect lens for it -- barely bigger than the 28/2.8, just as sharp (if not sharper), and with a great working distance of about a foot with a good magnification ratio (0.15x --> 0.3x per the Micro Four Thirds crop factor, I think). WELL worth the wait! Spent the rest of the night editing the photos from the day and catching up with some YouTube and writing this entry.
