Lazy Saturday November 2nd 2024. Spent most of the time in the dorm. Was thinking of driving to REI and shopping for a windbreaker with my $30 promo but I checked the website and found out my local location in Seabright was out of stock. I split the difference and ordered it online and then would go to pick it up when it arrived to their store. I got it in orange. It's a bold statement for sure but I want to pop out against the fog and gray skies when the weather gets colder and colder. Breakfast at RCC was good. Oatmeal and some very good moist scrambled eggs and a couple of caramelized ham steaks and a few potatoes. Dinnertime was shrimp pasta and beans and tomato tofu. Salad bar was up and running so I snagged a huge plate as well. Talked with Sasha about politics and social systems from 2:30 to 4:15ish. My Vivitar 28mm f/2.8 manual focus lens arrived today and so far it seems sharper than my FD 28mm, though of course not as clinically sharp as was my RF 28mm (now returned and on its way back), and with creamy spherical aberration in the out of focus areas for a slight glow. Close focus ability came in very handy during dinnertime photos -- the pictures aren't as analytic as on my 50mm or 100mm, but the lens works well in a pinch and the task of focusing on the subject is completely on me.
